Whenever a birthday rolls around, it has the potential to be a fun-filled celebration or, unfortunately, a point of stress and confusion. However, throwing a great birthday can be very simple: all you have to do is make sure everyone else there is having the time of their goddamn lives, and here’s how:
Decide on a venue that everyone will like.
Sure, you may want to spend your special day in bed watching TV all day, but the people who care about you want to celebrate you! So, leading up to the event, remember to ask all of your friends what kind of experiences they would like to have in the near future. Some great options could include going to a nightclub, attending a concert, going on vacation, or anything else that is complicated and anxiety-inducing! Best birthday ever, here you come!
Hang out with everyone equally.
You don’t want anyone to feel left out, do you? Spending time with every person who is there on your birthday is the only real way to show each and every person there how much they truly mean to you – but remember not to spend too long talking to one person. Also, never assume that your friends will simply just talk to each other — that is a disaster waiting to happen, and it’ll all be your fault! So much fun!
Ask all guests if they’re having a good time as often as possible.
No one is a mind reader, so even though you tried to the best of your abilities to create an environment that everyone would enjoy, you should go ahead and check in with all of your guests as much as you can, just to make sure. After all, what’s the point of having a birthday party if the other people there aren’t going to remember it fondly for the rest of their lives? This is the perfect way to start off this new year for you!
Hand out presents.
You don’t want others to get bored and recall your birthday as a total snoozefest, so pick out the perfect gift for each and every person there and then hand them their gifts throughout the event! You might have told everyone “No gifts please,” but that doesn’t mean that you can’t still share the love with everyone else! After all, who could have a bad time when they’re receiving a present? You should still be asking them if they’re having a good time, though.
Some people say that birthdays should be spent doing exactly what you want to do, but those people are dead wrong. Your birthday should be spent catching up with everyone in your life and making sure they’re having the best time they’ve ever had in their lives, even the people you didn’t actually invite!
