Unfortunately, there comes a time in everyone’s life when they reflect on their flawed past decisions. For me, I reconciled my mistakes when it was too hot to install my air conditioner in my window, even though I had a solid three months when it would have been reasonable to do so.
It was simply too hot to put my A/C in, and it also happened to be too late.
Just yesterday, the temperature outside got up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit, and while I knew this was going to happen because I checked the Weather app every day last week, the thought of lugging my A/C unit up from the basement, dragging it through the house, and putting in in my window never entered my mind when it was an actually good temperature to do all of these things — and that’s not my fault!
I’m learning to forgive myself, which means I refuse to linger on the past.
I have to admit, however, that this was also not the only hot day I endured without an air conditioner. In fact, there were three other sweltering days that occurred this spring, but with each one I just thought, “Well, it’s too hot to install my A/C today, so I’ll just do it later.” Little did I know, I would never do it and then repeat the cycle all over again, making the same mistake.
Obviously, when it’s hot out I don’t want to put the A/C in, and when it’s cold out I also don’t want to put the A/C in.
It could be argued that I technically still could have installed my A/C during the scorching hot day yesterday, but I personally believe that this would have made me sweat uncontrollably, making the hot day even worse before getting some relief from the new cold air, and I refused to start sweating even more than I currently was, even for a second.
It was a classic Catch-22, I’m pretty sure. I’ve never read the book.
However, after today, I’ve definitely learned my lesson. It’s only going to get hotter from here on out, which is why I’m planning to install my A/C at some point in the near future whenever I happen to think about it again. I’m sure it’ll be totally fine, and I definitely won’t have to rely on taking 5 cold showers a day.
