Girl With ‘Good Vibes’ Actually Just Backlit

When Cara Maldive arrived at her friend Lydia Goddard’s barbecue last Saturday, she had no idea what an impact she would make.

“Who is that?” asked Ryan, Goddard’s newly single cousin. “She’s got a good vibe.”

“Yeah, she seems really chill,” said Goddard’s old roommate, Christine.

Comments like this circulated throughout the party, until it was revealed upon further investigation, that Maldive was just well backlit by a large picture window.

Having already loaded up her plate, she spent several minutes in front of the window, eating appetizers. This positioning, silhouetted by the soft glow of sunshine, prompted bystanders to perceive her as “warm” and “just a cool person.”

When the party moved outside, Maldive once again happened to be standing with her back to the setting sun for nearly 45 minutes. During this time, Maldive was described as “nice,” “super happy and friendly,” and having “a real positive energy” by three complete strangers.

When Goddard told Maldive about the “good vibes” she was supposedly giving off, Maldive was surprised.

“Wow, that’s so nice! No one has ever said that to me before!” she said. “Actually, a lot of people say I’m kind of a bitch until you get to know me.”

Several partygoers were dumbfounded when Maldive took a turn for the worse after the sun went down that evening. “It was like she was scowling at everybody,” one woman said. “I was like, ‘Where did all the good vibes go?’”

Maldive left the party with several new “friends”, then promptly went to a nearby bar with her real friends to complain about them all.
