Woman Always Keeping Mental List of Who She Would Take on ‘The Amazing Race’

Never one to be caught in a situation unprepared, 26-year-old Los Angeles, CA resident Ivy Dolan has spent years of her life keeping a mental list of which of her friends, family, or acquaintances she would choose to take with her on the popular television game show, The Amazing Race.

“With a race around the world like this, where you need to complete challenges in dozens of countries, you need people who are well-rounded athletically but also compatible emotional partners to get you through those tough moments,” she told reporters, unprompted. “That’s why I’ve been keeping a running mental list since 2003.”

Has she ever applied or been considered for the race? Ivy says no.

Sources confirmed that whenever she makes a new friend, she mentally categorizes them as “Amazing Race material” or not.

“I would take Wilson but I fear neither of us have the cardiovascular stamina for any of the more running-based challenges,” she continued, gesturing to her friend who she was currently meeting for lunch and could clearly hear the whole conversation.

Wilson responded, “What?” but Ivy was too busy discussing which of her friends she would pick over him.

“The number one emotional match would probably be my sister,” she continued, clearly having considered this years ago. “But I just worry she wouldn’t be able to push herself as far as she’d need to go – for example, if we had to drink seven beers out of a boot in Belgium, as was the case in 2012 during season 21.”

Of course, Ivy’s number one consideration when ranking someone on the list is whether they can “drive stick.”

“You always see these people on The Amazing Race who hop into a car the show has provided for them, then reveal they have no clue how to drive a stick shift,” she said with disgust. “How does that happen? Didn’t you know you’d be chosen for the race? I refuse to let this happen to me, which is why I only choose friends who already know how to drive stick.”

Ivy made the slight accommodation that if she really hits it off with someone who doesn’t know how to drive stick, she will make the effort to teach them.

At press time, Ivy was seen googling, as she does every six months, “Is amazing race still on?”
