Why I’m Refusing to Vote Unless I Can Do it by Text Like ‘American Idol’

I know that this year’s presidential election matters a lot. And I know that now more than ever, my vote has the power to change the direction that American politics is currently on. However, due to concerns about COVID-19 and also general preference, I will NOT be voting unless I can do it by text like American Idol.

Why? Because I am an American, that’s why.

I’ve seen the information about voting through the mail, and I have to say, it just doesn’t do it for me. You’re telling me I have to place my tongue on an envelope and use an ink pen like I’m 1000 years old? I just feel like this whole situation would be better if I could vote over text and also Ryan Seacrest was reading the instructions to me.

It also just feels so disorganized this year. To attempt to have a safe election, we have to vote by mail. But the USPS is asking that people mail their ballots in weeks before the deadline, and I just don’t know if I can have my life all planned out like that. If things were done the American Idol way, I could just text the night of and then see who won in like an hour or two. Then they sing and dance and sometimes cry tears of joy. It’s so exciting! And also mail kind of scares me?? But that’s beside the point.

The fate of this country lies on this year’s election, but I’m not about to involve planning and physical tasks and driving into the post office for it. I know there’s a better way, and so do you. Let me text BIDEN to 123USA to vote this November, please and thank you!
