Signs Your Inner Child Resents You For Only Feeding It Pasta

Recognizing and reparenting your inner child can be emotionally challenging work. Your inner child may bear the scars of traumas from your youth, or your inner child might be reacting to more current failures. Here are some telltale signs that your inner child resents because you’ve only fed it pasta and continue to feed it pasta.

You keep losing your temper.

Has your fuse been running short lately? That might be a sign that your inner child is feeling neglected and trying to grab your attention by throwing a tantrum. Why are they acting up like this? Well, think about it: Did you make yourself some iteration of pasta for dinner the last five nights? Maybe you could try a grain? Quinoa is rich in protein. No? You’re just gonna make pasta again because you put it in boiling water for ten minutes and then it’s done? Okay.

You feel fatigued.

Parenting is exhausting work, and parenting your inner child is no different! However, in this case the fatigue you feel may be because your inner child is developing scurvy from only eating pasta: a food severely lacking in the nutritional value an inner child (or adult person) needs to live. Could you feed your inner child some fish? Or tofu? Or a vegetable? No, tomato sauce doesn’t count; tomatoes are fruit, and they’re, like, barely that, either.

When you walk past an Italian restaurant, you start to cry.

Children have more heightened emotional responses to situations and stimuli. As a result, the significance of their emotions is often downplayed which can cause real psychological damage. So if you burst into tears any time you walk past an Italian restaurant, don’t ignore it! Your inner child is crying, “Please, bitch, no more pasta!” and you need to listen. You’d get more nutrients eating actual baby food. It doesn’t matter if you throw some sautéed broccoli in there occasionally. You’re an adult and you need to look up some damn recipes.

If you’ve experienced any combination of these signs, and you continually make nothing but pasta for almost every meal, then there’s a good chance that your inner child is acting out. They resent you for not nourishing them with a richer variety of ingredients, and they’re right to. Go make that little fucker some Mediterranean food.
