Enlightened? This Woman Said ‘Social Media Is Overrated’ After Reaching 300K Followers

Despite 27-year-old Jessica Armor focusing solely on the growth of her Instagram account for the past five years, which brought incredibly successful results, she has changed her tune about the importance of social media now that she has finally reached 300,000 followers.

Wow! She’s come so far!

In a Catch-22 of sorts, Jessica only realized and spread the gospel of social media being “mentally unhealthy” and “soulless” after she reached her milestone of 300K followers, in addition to quitting her nine-to-five in favor of making a living solely from brand partnerships, and beginning a new career as one of the most coveted freelance social media managers in the industry.

“I’m deleting my Instagram account because I’ve realized it’s severely unhealthy for my peace of mind and I encourage everyone else to do the same,” she said to her followers, most of whom have under two thousand followers, respectively. “There’s nothing good that can come out of these platforms, so get out while you still can!”

So true, Jessica!

The ex-Instagram influencer posted this statement as a caption on her story, which also included a backdrop of her sipping a piña colada while sitting on Mark Zuckerberg’s very own yacht, which, sources say, she received a personalized invitation to attend.

However, some of her previous followers seemed to have conflicting thoughts about the Instagram celebrity’s statements.

“I totally agree with her saying that social media is unhealthy,” longtime follower Uma Gibson told reporters. “But at the same time, isn’t that how she was able to forge a career and eventually delete her profile? I just think it’s kind of unrealistic to expect people to give up their socials while they’re still trying to develop their network.”

As for Jessica, she doesn’t think it’s that complicated of an issue.

“If you’re trying to get your work noticed, you could start a website instead, or even put up some flyers around your neighborhood,” she said. “Anything’s healthier than doom-scrolling. Trust me. Plus, you never know when a big producer or hiring manager could be walking by some of your own homemade signs!”

While Jessica mentioned that she has never attempted this strategy, she remains confident that it would be virtually the same as growing a social media account that reaches users in at least 25 different countries.

Yes, girl, let’s all unplug! That sounds so amazing in theory!
