Woman With ADHD Loses Interest Halfway Through Starting Long, Painful Labor

In a developing story out of Brooklyn, NY, 31-year-old Carina Ngan – who has been diagnosed with ADHD for her entire adult life – has just gone into what’s looking to be a long, painful labor – and yep, she’s already lost interest.

“I always start new things and lose interest halfway through,” Carina told reporters as she practiced some breathing techniques with her midwife. “My house is riddled with woebegone hobbies. I guess this kid will just be one of those things.”

Carina added that while her initial interest was pure, it can be hard to tell if something will really hold her attention, or if it’s just a fleeting feeling.

“I was super interested in having a kid,” she said. “That is, until I got halfway through my labor and started thinking about growing my own herbs. Now I can stop thinking about running over to Home Depot and grabbing a grow kit in between excruciating contractions. Damn, I really wish I knew about growing your own lavender nine months ago.”

She continued, saying, “I was hyper fixated on having a kid the months leading up to my labor, but the second my body started trying to push the thing out, I knew I was more interested in playing tennis or learning guitar or something.”

Sources say this isn’t the first time something like this has happened to Carina.

“When we were first talking about having a kid, I asked her if this was, you know, one of those things that she was going to be super enthusiastic about and then quickly lose interest,” said Carina’s husband, Leon, as Carina took a breather in between contractions to google “cooking classes nyc.” “She got pretty offended and said that obviously her desire to start a family with me wasn’t something she could just lose interest in, but now all she can seem to talk about is learning how to cook the perfect croquembouche and if I want to go to cooking school with her.”

Leon added that he’s not sure how they’re going to have time for cooking school while also working their full-time jobs and raising a child, but he’s willing to give it a shot if that’s where Carina’s heart lies.

At press time, Carina had finished her labor and the first book in a new fantasy series. She said she felt a reinvigorated sense of excitement in continuing down both of those paths – seemingly forgetting about cooking school entirely.

“I totally forgot how much I loved reading! I can’t wait to see what happens in book number two. Plus, I’m actually looking forward to raising this kid, she’s pretty cool and super unpredictable, so I don’t think I’ll ever get bored!”
