Sometimes it can be hard to tell whether your actions are a result of your personality or your circumstance – this is especially true when you’re avoiding human contact and you’re not sure if you’re an introvert, or if your roommate quotes the musical Hamilton all the fucking time which causes you to hide in your room and speak very little. Take this quiz to find out if it’s you or if your roommate just picked up an unbearable personality quirk:
What type of noise level do you prefer in the daytime?
- I like things calm and mellow. I’m often wearing noise-cancelling headphones.
- I don’t really mind anything, just please don’t tell me a single thing about Hamilton or squeeze musical rap lyrics into conversation.
Do you feel the need to recharge or be alone after a night socializing?
- Yes, absolutely! Love to take a night in to be happy and quiet alone.
- Actually I never feel that way unless it’s directly after a conversation with my white Connecticut-born roommate who says “Immigrants… we get the job done” when she’s done microwaving her food.
What is types of conversations do you prefer?
- I really like one-on-one conversations that feel intimate. Group situations are sometimes overwhelming to me.
- Literally whatever works as long as it doesn’t include anything Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote. No “I’m not throwing away my shot,” anymore, please, I’m tired.
What’s your ideal living situation?
- I prefer living alone, or one other person at most.
- I could share a bedroom with 100 people in a Madeleine-style sleeping arrangement, as long as no one who quotes Hamilton is there. I would break my lease right now for that.

We are so sorry but it seems like you are not an introvert, but are stuck in a dire situation with a roommate that quotes Hamilton. This is truly awful and inhabitable, and we hope you find better living accommodations soon. While your roommate may say something like “Raise a glass to freedom, something they can never take away,” you know that actually they very much took your freedom away.
