After several controversial nominations of Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin this year, the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to the left arrow on the standard American traffic light this week.
People around the world are celebrating the news.
“Literally nothing, at least in the United States, has saved more lives this year,” says Berit Reiss-Anderson, chair of the Nobel committee. “An uncountable number of conflicts have been avoided due to the simple existence of the left arrow traffic light, which has become a true beacon of hope for our future.”
While there was some concern over awarding the prize to an inanimate object, the committee agreed it was really “just to make a fucking point.”
