In a story of taking your health and wellness seriously, 27-year-old Penny Ellwood finally get the recommended serving of water in a day by literally almost drowning.
Yes, hydration queen!
“Turns out I actually needed to be straight up inhaling the water in order to be consuming enough in a day,” Penny told reporters. “I guess carrying around a really big water bottle wasn’t the secret after all.”
Say bye-bye to your Stanley and hello to accidentally trying to breathe while underwater!
Penny said she discovered this new hydration hack while out surfing this past weekend.
“I was having a pretty good day out on the water up until I lost my balance and got absolutely slammed by a monster wave,” she explained. “After rolling around on the ocean floor for about 30 seconds, I finally succumbed to the pressure on my lungs and took a big culling breath.”
Luckily, lifeguards were there to haul her to safety and get the excess water out of her lungs. Penny said this experience really helped her learn her limits — though she said that wasn’t her biggest takeaway.
“Of course, I now know what waves I can and can’t handle,” she said. “But, more importantly, I know that I can barf up a bunch of water and still be hydrated as hell. My skin and hair have honestly never looked better!”
We love a skincare win!
As of press time, Penny said she’s not looking to repeat this experience, so she’s in need of a new way of staying hydrated.
“Right now, I’m thinking bobbing for apples mishap or slipping in the shower then laying with my mouth open for a while,” she said. “All I know is I need to literally be on the cusp of drowning in order to drink the right amount of water.”
Okay, health genius!
