How to Sneak Into a New Friend Group Without Them Even Noticing

Between work, school, and trying to stay alive amidst a global pandemic, it is increasingly difficult to create and maintain friendships. So, if you want to ditch your current friends for a new set of pals, you’ve come to the right place! Here are four ways to steal a spot in an established friend group without them even noticing.

Fit their aesthetic.

Remember when your parents would say, “You’ve got to dress for the job you want”? This is kind of the same thing. If the friend group has a y2k vibe going on, then go grab some low-rise jeans and tinted lens sunglasses. If they’ve got more of a dark academia aesthetic then grab a blazer and a copy of The Bell Jar. If you look like them they’ll never know that you are an imposter.

Befriend the odd one out.

In any friend group, there is a friend who is left out of the group dynamic. Just pretend to care about them as a person and they will welcome you into the group with open arms. They’ll be so consumed with gratitude that they will not even notice that you are a total stranger using them to your own Machiavellian ends (friendship!).

Steal the identity of one group member.

If the two earlier steps do not work and you are oh so desperate to have a friend group to call your own, just pretend to be one of the existing members after getting them out of the picture. Legally, we cannot give you any ideas but it rhymes with herder.

Sow seeds of distrust within the group.

If you are too much of a coward to complete the above step, just destroy the friend group. Start by telling one member that another member has been talking badly about them or that they are secretly sleeping with their partner. With the elimination of the core friend group, you can make your own with the remaining members. They’ll probably notice this one, but at least you’re getting your dream sitcomy clearly defined friend crew!

We get that the friendship scene is really rough these days. So, if you want to have a set group of friends who you can call whenever you need someone to talk to or go out into the city with, take our sound advice! Thank us later!
