Us doggy parents all know that sometimes your pup has a surplus of energy, but typically with a little playtime and maybe a trip to the park, they’ll tire out. I certainly thought this was the case, but today my two-year-old Whippet Bongle has the zoomies and simply won’t stop scheduling video meetings into all hours of the night.
Help! Does anyone know how to keep a hyperactive dog from logging into my work Zoom account?
When we first got home from our walk, I could tell that Bongle was freaking out a little. He was running around my apartment, jumping up on the sofa, and tearing away at his Antonin Scalia chew toy. This was all basically fine, but then he hopped up on my desk chair and started sending Google Calendar invites for video meetings with vague subjects like “check in” or “touching base.” He even sent a meeting link to his vet Dr. Pryor, which is bizarre, because Bongle hates going to the vet.
Should I be worried by this behavior? For reference he’s mid-sized and has all his shots.
I figured that sooner than later Bongle would get screen fatigue and cease scheduling video calls, but that couldn’t have been further from the truth.
After a morning walk/poop, Bongle scheduled a Zoom meeting with my boss and mom titled simply “Intervention” (for whom??) and then sent out a Skype invite for five minutes after with just my mom called “Processing.” Could this be a sign of rabies? I have no idea what’s going on.
I know it’s normal for a healthy young dog to be energetic, but I’m just afraid that with all these meetings he’s scheduling, Bongle’s going to get burnt out and not be able to uphold his end of his commitments.
Has anyone dealt with similar behavior in their pets? Not just including dogs, even like a cat or a lizard?
At this point, I think Bongle might be unwell, because he’s trying to organize a Zoom high school reunion for my graduating class, but we only graduated seven years ago. I’m going to give him some Trazadone in cheese, and start canceling some of these meetings by explaining my frenetic dog planned them, but if anyone has advice, it would be much appreciated.
Oh no, now Bongle is FaceTiming my landlord!!
