It’s a lady’s worst nightmare–she goes on a short boat ride, the engine cuts out, and suddenly she’s lost at sea without any real shampoo, conditioner, or fresh water to rinse and repeat. Luckily you always keep a stash of dry shampoo in your bag. But which brands really cut it on days when you’ve been floating in the ocean for so long that you can no longer keep track of time? Here are our faves for when you’re drifting aimlessly across the waves.
Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo (Sephora, $22)
Living Proof’s dry shampoo manages to make hair feel clean even when it’s saturated with other product build-up, which yours definitely is, because you’ve already got countless applications of dry shampoo on top of the sea salt from when you swam under the boat to see if something was stuck in the propeller. You may never figure out how to survive this, but your hair is looking clean AF! The time-release fragrance delivers a light, clean scent all day, which you totally need right now since you’re lost at sea.
Suave Keratin Infusion Dry Shampoo (Walmart, $5)
This solid dry shampoo has a super cheap price tag, so you may want to stock a few bottles on your boat for when you inevitably drive straight out into the ocean and run out of gas. Your boyfriend warned you about your lax gas refilling habits, and we warned you about this dry shampoo so you’re all set in the hair department. Hope you packed food!
Klorane Tinted Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk (Blue Mercury, $20)
This dry shampoo uses oat milk and rice powder to absorb excess oil so that your hair feels clean to the touch. It comes out in an ultra-fine mist that adds a subtle touch of color to your hair, so you can switch up your look a little, even when you’re out at sea and there’s no one to notice. We hope you’re rescued soon, but in the meantime you can rescue your tired locks with this dry shampoo.
Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo (Saks, $10.50)
The ultra-fine, oil-absorbing rice starch in this dry shampoo removes buildup, and maybe, possibly is something you could eat or at least get high off of? We don’t know. But what have you got to lose at this point? You’re dying out there.
Alterna Cleanse Extend Translucent Dry Shampoo (Nordstrom, $12)
We’re loving the Mango Coconut scent of this dry shampoo for days when we just can’t deal with showering, or weeks when we’re stranded on the ocean. Dry shampoo is giving us life. Hopefully. We want to look good when they find us.
It’s so hard to keep your hair looking good on days when you can’t shower. And it’s harder to avoid getting lost at sea. Thankfully, these dry shampoos have you covered for one of those things.
