Scientists from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have confirmed that right now is the perfect time to book your flight home for Thanksgiving in 2030, lest the prices rise even more than they already have.
“When we track flight data, there’s a specific window of time where flights are cheapest,” said Lead Researcher Paul Fromson. “And that window is exactly seven.”
When asked to clarify what he meant by “seven,” Fromson said, “Seven years. Seven years before the flight is exactly when you should book it. Any day later and you can expect prices to skyrocket, and that will simply be your own fault.”
Fromson was also careful to advise Thanksgiving 2030 travelers that they shouldn’t book their flights too soon, either: “Booking one day after seven years in advance is a death knell, but booking one day before seven years in advance is just as stupid. You might as well be lighting your money on fire.”
According to Fromson, booking one day early sends a message to airlines that you “want it too bad,” so they’ll probably exploit you then, too.
“Seven years to the day says, ‘Oh, I was just thinking about taking a flight nearly a decade from now – why don’t I check prices?’” he continued. “You see, you’ve got to play hard to get. It’s a game of cat and mouse between you and these multi-billion-dollar companies that profit off your selfish desire to see your family during the holidays.”
“I made sure to call my kids this morning and remind them to book their flights today at the latest,” said local mom Reema Lewis. “Sure, they don’t know where they’ll be living seven years from now, but I told them to take their best guess or, at the very least, close their eyes, spin a globe, and point.”
“I knocked this method as extreme, too,” said Reema’s daughter, Harriet Lewis. “Until I saw the prices. I mean, a $450 flight from Miami to LA? That’s pretty reasonable if you ask me!”
Harriet confirmed that this price only includes airfare in one direction and excludes added costs for carry-on or checked baggage.
“Air travel is extremely convenient and cheap if you know when to book,” Fromson continued. “And how could you possibly know when the best time to book is? Why, it’s written in the footer of a website buried so deep in the Google Search results that we technically no longer know if it exists!”
