REPORT: Boyfriend Assumed You Were Booking That

In a deeply annoying story emerging from your living room, you and your boyfriend Matteo are supposed to go out for date night at a trendy restaurant this evening, but he assumed you were the one booking that.

Sources confirm there is no evidence from the past three weeks that would suggest you were booking this, nor any reason to assume he had not already booked it.

“What do you mean you assumed I was booking the reservation?” you asked, incredulous. “I told you date night was your responsibility this week, and you brought up Carmelo’s in the first place.”

Instead of apologizing and seeing if he could book the reservation now, Matteo opted to get extremely defensive.

“Yeah, I pitched it, but you said it was a good choice! Why would you say that if you weren’t booking the reservation?” he countered flimsily. “You just always book stuff! So I assumed you would continue to book stuff.”

Sources confirm you and Matteo got into a fight last week over this very fact, as you’re tired of being the one to always plan outings and execute the vision.

“Right, yes, I always book stuff, but you insisted I should stop doing that,” you countered. “Remember? You said I should stop doing everything myself and let you take charge for a change. Plus, you begged to take me on a date this week! Why would I book the reservation when the entire thing was your idea?”

Matteo couldn’t really think of a way to counter this point, so he started making a series of frustrated grunts.

“I’m really bad at booking reservations – you know that!” he continued, taking a weaponized incompetence approach. “It’s really hard for me. Why should I do it when it’s so easy for you?”

“It’s not easier for me than it is for literally anyone else!” you continued. “And booking a reservation isn’t hard. You just have to call the restaurant!”

At this point, Matteo exasperatedly said he didn’t understand why you were getting so worked up about this, given that it’s just a “stupid reservation.” Meanwhile, you had a sneaking suspicion this wasn’t the only reservation he forgot to make, so you decided to probe further.

“But you’ve booked the rental car for our trip to your aunt’s place like you promised, right?” you continued. “And the hotel in Arizona the week after that like you said you would?”

Matteo’s silence suggested he had done neither of these things.

As of press time, you decided you’ll be spending date night with your friends instead.
