How to Dress Like a Skater Even Though You’d Cry If You Fell Down

Skater fashion is one of the hottest trends, and there’s no sign of it stopping. But if you’re not much of a skater, you may find this style a little bit daunting, especially if your worst nightmare is being put in any sort of dangerous situation where you might fall on the ground and get hurt. But don’t worry, because you don’t need to be a skater to wear a skater-inspired fit! Here’s how to dress like a skater even though you’ve never willingly scraped your knee before and absolutely never would!

Think of skating as a concept, not an action.

Sure, skating is technically standing on a skateboard and getting from point A to point B, but the idea of skating is also about being relaxed, cool, and above the law. So just think about that next time you’re putting an outfit together to make people think you’re tougher and cooler, but still kind of artsy-er than you actually are. If you do this step right, you’ll definitely have people thinking your eyes would be dry if you fell down on concrete!

Avoid skate parks.

The last thing you want to do is look like a skater when you walk near some people who’ve been skating for years. Next thing you know, you’ll find yourself trying to ride a skateboard to impress them and prove you’re not a fraud, even though the mere thought of falling off a skateboard gives you chills. Remember: if you’re going to wear some sort of skater fashion, make sure you surround yourself with people who wouldn’t know the difference between a real skater and an everyday pedestrian. Sorry you don’t do an activity that involves eating shit on the regular!

Wear a helmet and knee pads.

If you’re scared that you might accidentally end up on a skateboard because you really look the part, or you ignored the last piece of advice and got bullied by some skater teens, make sure you’re wearing a helmet and kneepads just in case you have to shred on a guardrail or whatever skaters do! This way, even though you can’t skate, at least tears won’t cartoonishly spring from your eyes when you inevitably hit the ground.

Nowadays, everybody wants to look like a skater, and even though you’ve probably never stepped foot on a skateboard without immediately falling off it and promising yourself to never do it again, that doesn’t mean you can’t participate in the lifestyle! Follow these steps to look like you may or may not skate, and you’ll definitely feel cooler, as long as you’re not standing on wheels of any kind.
