DIY Projects to Start With Your Partner and Finish With Your Ex

DIY projects can be a great way to improve your home while connecting with your partner in the process. Granted, you might connect so much that you’ll come to the realization, after years, or even decades, spent together, that you’re actually not right for each other – but at least you’ll have a newly refurbished kitchen island to cry on! So check out these DIY projects to start with your partner, but finish with your ex.

Wallpaper a wall.

This project is a great way to add a little pop of color to your space. Although, it will be hard to see anything but red when you notice the little bubbles in the wallpaper that your partner didn’t take the time to smooth out. You’ll have to rip it down and start from the beginning, but at least you can take solace in the fact that you’ll have to do the same exact thing with your love life.

Install new countertops.

After this one, your kitchen will be looking brand new and you’ll feel excited about cooking again! Just make sure to only buy ingredients for one, because you had to spend several extra hours shaving down the side of one counter in order to make the oven fit, even after your partner swore they measured it multiple times.

Build a raised garden bed.

Constructing a raised garden bed is a great way for you and your partner to spend some time together outdoors, while also creating a new hobby that you two can do together for years to come. Sure, the process will inevitably drive you irreparably apart, but at least something will grow here! It won’t be a family or life together, but still!

Give these DIY projects a shot if you’re looking for a hands-on way to spend time with your partner. These projects will also give you a welcome excuse to reach out with an ill-advised text that says, “Look how big the squash have gotten!”
