Happy Halloween! This is a great time of year for decorating, dressing up, and eating tasty treats alone in your house. There’s no need to have interpersonal relationships of any real meaning to enjoy this festive time of year, so put on a nurse costume, turn on It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, and head to the kitchen to make these creative treats to eat all by yourself!
Pumpkin Quesadillas
2 cups canned pure pumpkin puree
1 teaspoon ground cumin
6 (8-inch) flour tortillas
4-12 ounces goat cheese, crumbled
Wine
Add a little autumn flavor to this Mexican classic. Simply mix 2 cups of pumpkin puree and 1 tsp. ground cumin to as much cheese as you want, pair it with wine, and you’ve got a Halloween dinner that would make any shut-in happy!
Applesauce Chutney
1 red onion, chopped
2 tablespoons butter
1 (24-ounce) jar chunky applesauce
1 tablespoon crystallized ginger, minced
Wine
This applesauce chutney is a sweet alternative to fattening dishes like pumpkin pie, helping you keep that slim figure if you ever leave the house. Having absolutely no one in your life means you can cuddle on the couch with a big bowl of chutney—and another bowl of wine! You can put wine in a bowl.
The Tipsy Grape
9 large mint leaves
3 ounces bourbon
4 teaspoons pure maple syrup
Optional: Wine
Enjoy a seasonal Halloween cocktail while you desperately wait for human contact in the form of children knocking on your door. Throw together some bourbon and maple syrup and before you know it you’ll have forgotten you weren’t invited to a Halloween party! Garnish with wine, if desired. Ha! “If.”
Butternut Pudding
2 (10-ounce) packages frozen butternut squash puree, thawed
4 whole eggs
1/2 cup pure maple syrup
Whipped cream
Wine
Squash doesn’t have to be savory! This sweet treat has all of the flavors of Halloween. This recipe also has a serving size of 2, meaning some for you and your boyfriend Mr. Tupp R. Ware!
A Bag of Candy
1 bag candy
Wine
Why reinvent the wheel? Why put any effort in at all– You’re alone! Enjoy the classic that made Halloween what it is: a bag of sugar wrapped in plastic. Make a game out of seeing how many you can eat before you cry yourself to sleep. You win!
