How to Get Dressed Without Having a Mental Breakdown

Getting dressed every day is something we all have to do, whether we like it or not. But have you ever wondered what it would be like to get dressed without having a complete and utter mental breakdown each time? If you’re someone who suffers from DBA (Dressing Based Anxiety), then follow these tips for how to get dressed without totally spiraling out of control and ruining your whole day!

Breathe.

Breathing is the most important thing to remember when you’re comparing five completely different outfits just to go to the grocery store, but it’s often the most forgotten. Next time you’ve been comparing two pairs of pants for more than 45 minutes, just remember to take a deep breath. It won’t actually help you decide, but it will help you when you inevitably have a panic attack!

Plan your fit beforehand.

Planning what you’re going to wear the night before is an almost surefire way to cut out the worrying part of the process of getting ready, unless it doesn’t actually look as good when you put it on in the morning as you thought it would when you laid it all out. Oh, my God, fuck! Now you’re running late!

Start a capsule wardrobe.

If you find that having lots of options is the root of your anxiety, then you might want to consider cutting your closet down and making a capsule wardrobe instead! You’ll just have to decide what to keep and what to give away, and then also be happy with what you kept. Wait, but all the things you own are actually so ugly. But also each of them could be cute with the right thing, So maybe what you need is more clothes? Ah!!! Okay, breathe.

Call up a friend and ask for help.

When you’re really stumped on what to wear and you start hating every article of clothing you own, calling one of your friends for help is a great way to share the burden of how you’re going to present yourself to the world. Ugh, but they don’t give a shit about your outfit and now they’re complaining to you about their partner while you try to figure out if you can pull off overalls. God, this was such a mistake!

Deciding what to wear is one of the most difficult things we have to do every day, so if you’re sick of having a complete mental breakdown every time you get dressed, then follow these tips that may or may not help you when you’re considering never going anywhere outside ever again! Good luck, fashionista!
