In a heartwarming story out of Buffalo, NY, 31-year-old Allison Davis just made one of her favorite meals her grandma used to make for her when she was young. Her grandma, coincidently, got that recipe from Allrecipes.com.
How adorable!
“I always loved eating my grandma’s food when I was growing up,” Allison told reporters. “So, when I moved into my apartment, I reached out to her for one of her recipes I loved so much. It was chicken parm and it was delicious! It made me feel super connected to my childhood.”
Allison’s grandma, Leanne, told reporters she was happy Allison enjoyed the recipe, but wasn’t sure why it made her granddaughter feel so connected to her.
“In all honesty, that’s just a recipe I found one night on Allrecipes.com,” Leanne said. “I was babysitting Allison and her siblings one night and just wanted to make something for them super quickly, so I hopped on the cooking site and picked something that looked easy. I don’t know where she’s getting the idea that I’m inventing all of these recipes myself. I worked in accounting my whole life, when would I have had the time to develop recipes from scratch?”
She continued, “If she wanted to feel connected to me, she should’ve asked me to help her do her taxes, not for an old mac and cheese recipe that I found when I googled ‘easy recipes for kids.’”
We love when things are passed down from Google to generation to generation!
While Allison has said that making recipes passed down in her family for centuries makes her feel more connected to her Italian roots, Allison’s grandma responded to this by saying that this recipe “absolutely hasn’t been passed down for centuries” and that they’re “definitely not Italian.”
“I have absolutely no clue where she even got that idea,” Leanne told reporters. “We strictly use Prego sauce and I break the pasta in half before I cook it. I’m pretty sure that’s a crime in Italy.”
At press time, Allison had reached out to her grandma for her “amazing chocolate chip cookie recipe” so she could put it in a cookbook that she wanted to pass down to her kids. Her grandma obliged, but told reporters that she wasn’t sure why Allison wanted to put it in a book when all she needed to do was search “best chocolate chip cookies” on TikTok and click the first video. She added, “It’s like she’s never heard of the Internet before.”
