How to Be Happy in Fall Even Though Winter Comes Next

Fall is a magical time of the year: it’s not too hot or too cold, the leaves change colors, and you get to celebrate Halloween! But sometimes knowing that fall doesn’t last forever can get in the way of your enjoyment of the autumn season, especially because winter comes next. If this is something you struggle with, then here’s how to be happy in the fall even though winter always happens immediately afterward.

Carve a pumpkin.

Getting into the Halloween spirit by cutting into a big gourd will definitely take your mind off of what will happen in the next couple of months. Whether you’re carving something cute, scary, or even funny, your carved pumpkin will serve as a reminder to enjoy the fall season as much as you can, before your pumpkin inevitably rots and harks the coming of the worst season of the year.

Go apple picking.

Fall is apple picking season, which means that this is the best time you can go somewhere outside of the city and get a big basket of apples! Even if this isn’t something that sounds especially fun to do, at least it’s better than sitting at home wondering how much time you have left before everywhere outside turns into a frozen, barren, dark wasteland!

Jump into a leaf pile.

Wake up your inner child by jumping into a big, beautiful pile of leaves! We also recommend taking pics while you do it so you can remember what it felt like to be happy and outside at the same time.

Live in denial.

You can reject the fact that winter is going to happen soon by denying it completely! Rip out the winter months in your calendar, and act confused when people mention the upcoming holidays. After all, fall is forever, and no one can convince you otherwise!

So if you’re trying to be happy during the fall but the thought of winter is getting in your way, use any or all of these tips to forget about winter completely for the sake of your own mental health. It’s like it’s not even happening this year!
