Gorpcore! This Woman Hates Hiking but Loves Hiking Boots

Gorpcore, a style inspired by tactical outdoor clothing associated with hiking and camping, has been one of the fastest growing trends of the last year. Los Angeles, CA resident Rickie Taylorson is one of the most loyal subscribers of the new trend, despite the fact that she hates hiking, or even going outside in general.

How beautifully full of contradictions!

When asked about what the popular fashion style means to her, Rickie told reporters that her obsession with gorpcore is primarily due to its aesthetics.

“Gorpcore is all about looking like you love the outdoors, even if you despise it,” she said. “I personally hate getting dirty and I haven’t gone camping since I was eight years old, but that’s not stopping me from dressing like I go into the wilderness every weekend! Plus, hiking boots are literally so cute!”

So true, girl! You can technically wear them anywhere!

As for where Rickie wears her North Face backpacks, skull caps, hiking boots, and carabiners, she maintains that she still lives a very urban life.

“I normally just go to my corporate job or walk my dog, nothing huge,” Ricky told reporters while sipping out of a heavy duty, self-filtering stainless steel water bottle. “I honestly don’t even go to the gym. I have no endurance, whatsoever, despite what I might look like.”

Wow! It takes so much strength to admit that! Not physical strength, but strength nonetheless.

However, Ricky has unfortunately faced some challenges with only wearing items from her strictly gorpcore wardrobe.

“Everyone is always asking me to go hiking,” she said. “And then when I tell them I don’t like to hike, they never believe me. I’ve actually lost friends because they thought that I was blowing them off. But that’s still not going to stop me from wearing my favorite cargo pants every day.”

Yes, girl! Ignore the gorp haters!

Rickie also shared that the style helps her to feel more confident in her daily life.

“Maybe I like it because I’m so uncoordinated and scared of the outdoors,” Rickie explained. “But with my gorp wear on, I feel limitless. I mean, I could probably climb Mount Everest with all of the climbing supplies and durable footwear I have, but that will never, ever happen. I don’t even like walking up hills.”

As of press time, Rickie was spotted wearing a complete bungee jumping suit and harness while typing work emails on her laptop in a local café.
