Smash Stars Break into Heart-Wrenching Song Upon Show’s Cancellation

Smash Canceled

This week, NBC cancelled the critically acclaimed musical-drama series Smash. Network execs brought the ensemble cast, which includes Debra Messing, Katharine McPhee, and Anjelica Huston, into the studio lot to break the news.

Upon hearing their fate, cast members gasped audibly in unison. Katharine McPhee clutched her chest, uttering “we’ve been working so hard on this. I put my whole life on hold for this show,” before steadying herself with a mic stand. She then turned and looked longingly at the mic and spoke the first words of the song “It Must Have Been Love” by Roxette, before belting out the rest of the lyrics. By the time she got to the chorus, the entire cast broke in, singing harmony on the lyrics “it must have been love but it’s over now. It must have been good but I lost it somehow.”

An NBC representative present attempted to express his condolences to the actors, but unable to break in and realizing the musical number wasn’t going to stop anytime soon, walked off the set and went back to his office.

NBC is excited about the future prospect for the Saturday time-slot, a reality show competition titled Greatest Garage.
