Shia LaBeouf Plagiarizes Ellen Page’s Coming Out Speech

Ellen Page Plagiarize

At an impromptu rally outside LA’s ACLU headquarters, Shia LaBeouf took to the podium to announce that he is a lesbian, apparently using vast swaths of Ellen Page’s recent coming out speech at an HRC event. “It is such an honor to be here at the inaugural Time To Thrive conference,” he announced. “I’m tired of hiding and I’m tired of lying by omission. Also, I was in X-Men.”

At times, LaBeouf appeared to be reading directly from her transcript, especially when speaking about cruel tabloid articles. “The writer asked, ‘Why does this petite beauty insist upon dressing as a massive man?’ Pause. Some murmuring. Because I like to be comfortable. Laughter. Light applause. Sigh.” He added, “I was in X-Men.”

Activists in attendance grew increasingly uncomfortable as LaBeouf spoke about playing a pregnant teen in Juno, saying “I hope one day to find a partner and have some inseminated lesbian babies of my own. I am Ellen Page and I was Kitty Pryde in X-Men.” This part was evidently not plagiarized.

In response to accusations of plagiarism, LaBeouf ultimately took to Twitter to announce his retirement from public life:
