How to Get Your Pre-Lunch Body Back

After lunch, you’re feeling a lot of things. Maybe you’re happy; maybe you’re scared; maybe you’re just tired. Getting your pre-lunch body back is probably the last thing on your mind. But once you’ve settled into your new, post-lunch routine, you might start to miss the slender figure you used to have before lunch. When you’re ready, here are some steps you can take to get your body back to its pre-lunch state.

Engage in gentle exercise.

Don’t expect that you’ll be able to jump right back in to your pre-lunch exercise routine. Your body’s been through a lot in the last 30 minutes, and it needs to be eased in slowly. Start out with yoga or light jogging, then work your way up. Again, don’t push it—that steak sandwich was a honker.

Limit processed foods and sugar.

The last thing you need right now is more chemicals in your bloodstream—because you just put enough in for a lifetime. There’s no need to go crazy with dieting; just avoid overly processed or sugary foods like salami and candy. You’ll look better, feel better, and hopefully not doze off at your desk. But if you slip up and need a nap or a snack, be forgiving. That lunch was a tall order and you’re still healing from it.

Boost your metabolism.

Certain foods, like citrus fruits, garlic, and berries, have been shown to boost metabolism. We know you’ve just had one of the biggest meals of your entire day, an ordeal that may have gone on for over an hour, but when you do feel ready to ingest again, reach for one of these fat-blasting noms.

Take care of yourself.

Right after lunch is one of the most special periods in your life, but it can also be one of the most difficult. Whatever you do, remember to make time for yourself—whether that means taking a long bath, reading a good, non-lunch related book, or splurging on a facial. It may seem indulgent, but don’t forget: You just pushed a baby-sized burrito into you! You deserve it!

Let nature take its course.

Above all, getting your pre-lunch body back takes time, and you’ll get there eventually without much effort on your part. Be patient with yourself and your stretched belly. Before you know it it’ll be 6 pm and you might even be thinking about having another one!

We know it can be daunting, but believe us: Once you start getting your pre-lunch body back, you’ll start to feel like you again. The effects of this lunch are only temporary and well worth the indigestion!
