New DIY Project: Spanx!

We all want to hide our problem areas. I know what you’re thinking: “That’s why God made Spanx.” But not all of us can afford to wear brand-name Spanx every day. Here’s a quick how-to for Do-It-Yourself Spanx – you’ll be getting the same(ish) body contouring effects of Spanx for a fraction of the cost, and it’s SO easy!


• Gym Shorts
• Saran Wrap
• Tape
• Scissors
• Ice


Ensure that you have ice cubes. If you don’t know how to make ice cubes, you can find them pre-made at your local grocery store.


Step 1: Put on shorts.
Step 2: Roll Saran Wrap (for extra savings, use a store-brand plastic wrap) around your midsection and thighs, making sure to layer many, many times over the spots you want to diminish. Ensure the wrapping overlaps with the shorts.
Step 3: Tape the Wrap (Saran or otherwise) to the shorts.
Step 4: Take scissors and carefully cut a hole in the crotch area of your shorts, so you can pee out of your Spanxies!
Step 5: Rub ice cubes at and under where the wrapping meets your skin, to make your fat contract.
Step 6*: Very slowly slide the Spanx-ies off your body. Please note, this will take about an hour+. Be very cautious. It’s totally worth it!
Step 7: Allow Spanx-ies to dry and set.
Step 8 : When getting ready for a special event, a night out on the town, or any day at all, so you can feel like somewhat presentable: again, ice your thighs and torso.
Step 9: Slowly slide on your Spanx-ies. Again, allow for at least an hour to do this.
Step 10**: Put that hot outfit atop and you are ready to rock, girl!

*Do not wear Spanxies at times where you may need to get out of them quickly, such as reuniting with a lover, because this is not an option with Spanxies, without destroying them.

**Spanxies may be (are) both visible and unsightly underneath your clothes, rendering you and your “hot” outfit not hot. At all.
